taming the tongue

Psalm 139:3-5 : You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my TONGUE you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.

Serving a God who sees....

My mom sent me this picture a while ago and I must say I have come back to it again and again to marvel at it's possible significance. The eye of God maybe?
We have somewhat finished Joseph's story.....certainly there are lessons and details I have left out, but you can study and find those diamonds on your own....send me a thought or two if you do!! I think it's time for me to move on to something new now......
Isn't it nice to know that we serve a God who never sleeps and always sees? In our children's group home, there are certain times when we have to keep the 'baby monitor' on in our bedroom at night so if the children are up to no good, we can hear just what's going on and stop a potentially dangerous situation. Just last night we had to sleep with the monitor on and I remember thinking, "I'm not going to get much sleep tonight!" and "What if I don't hear anything because I am too deep in sleep!?" (My husband is a VERY heavy sleeper, so it's usually up to me to get up) I was slightly concerned....and really nothing worth noting happened through the night. I slept okay, too. ;p
But it made me so grateful that I serve a God who never tires so that He must sleep...His eyes are never shut. He sees everything (even the things I don't want Him to see!!!). Psalm 121 beautifully shares with us that when God's on watch, we have nothing to worry about....
" I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
He who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, He who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm— He will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." (NIV)
Wow. What an incredible blessing. He is always listening, He is always 'with-it' and alert.....I can trust Him. He never falters. To that I give a very teary 'thank you, Lord!'
